dosWelcome…

to St John the Evangelist, Kingston upon Thames.

This Sunday 10am All Age Christingle Communion Service in support of the Children’s Society.  All welcome.  During the service we makes Christingles (oranges with sweets, red ribbon and a candle – all provided) to celebrate God’s love for the world.  This year celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Children’s Society Christingle service.

Great news!  Our first phase building works are complete.  The church has been rewired and the heating and lighting systems replaced.  At last we have a beautifully lit, warm church.  Please do pop in and see the results of all the fabulous fundraising over the last few years.

We have also had the brilliant news that we have been awarded substantial funding from both the Garfield Weston Anniversary Fund and from the City Bridge Trust.  This means we will be able to carry out a second phase of the project next year to provide excellent facilities in the church so it can be used by all sorts of community groups and for all sorts of community events.  This work includes toilets, kitchen, step free entrance and lobby, internal ramps, storage and hopefully new flooring. Thank you so much to everyone who has support the project.

St John’s Vision Statement (2018)

Our vision is for St John’s to be at the heart of this community, a church rooted in the love of God and sharing the love of God with all.

To be:

An inclusive community welcoming and honouring all in Jesus name, however they may describe their faith or lack of it.

A compassionate, outward looking church, serving our local community, concerned with the needs of people and with care of the earth.

A church growing in faith, love and generosity, by nurturing our spiritual life, offering joyful services and supportive friendships.
