Kingston University use St John’s Church for a number of events each year. They hold one of their two annual carol services in the church to which university members and local residents are invited.
The music department hold a number of concerts at St John’s throughout the year at both lunchtime and evening. The church is also hired by the university as an examination hall for student exams.
Christmas Concert – ‘Missa Celtica’
‘Missa Celtica’ Performed by the Kingston University Chorus, Chamber Choir and Orchestra.
This year’s annual Christmas concert at St. John’s Church is to be the spectacularly beautiful Missa Celtica, by composer John Cameron (best known for his orchestrations of Les Miserables and Joseph and his Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat).
Missa Celtica, the Celtic Mass, is sung in Gaelic, Latin, English and Welsh; conducted by Dr. David Osbon, performed by the Kingston University Chamber Choir, Chorus and Orchestra, and will feature live sound diffusion, video projection and other multi-media effects.
The concert is to be held in memory of the music department’s friend and supporter Graham Child, who passed away this year.
All proceeds to go to his charities.
