The Spring Grove Royal Wedding Street Party was a huge success with over 1,000 people attending of all different ages. It was a wonderful day, the sun shone and everyone had lots fun.
At the risk of sounding like an Oscar acceptance speech, we have a few thank yous… First of all we’d like to thank the local businesses who have given donations towards the day or who have come along on the day: Greenfield Estate Agents; KFH Estate Agents; Fuller Gilbert Estate Agents; the Spring Grove pub; Burgess Glass; Frederick W Paine; Dairy Crest; Bizzy B’s Best Biltong; Wilko; Tesco; Horton Park Children’s Farm; Cath Kidston; Hotel Antoinette; Kate’s Fruit and Flowers; The Entertainer; Clas Ohlsen; Homebase; Build A Bear; Surbiton Fire Brigade; McCluskey’s Off Licence; Drama Workshops; Swizzels of Matlow and the Kingston Orchard Project.
Thanks to the shops and businesses in Bloomfield Road for their support and to Tim at the Spring Grove pub for being fab; to St John’s School for their support; and to the congregation of St John’s Church and local residents for pitching in and helping out. To the Spring Grove Residents Association – thanks for your invaluable advice, support and help on the day as well as lending us your vintage flags, bunting and all sorts of other useful things.
Another huge thank you to all the acts who performed on the day and helped to make such a great atmosphere – the Spring Grove and Offspring Morris groups; PlanB; the Mayfly Trio
www.myspace.com/mayflysmusic; www.facebook.com/pages/Mayfly-Trio/23196385263 ; Dave Moon www.myspace.com/davemoonacoustic; http://on.fb.me/lGaSGP and We’re So Pretty, as well as Colin Messer for being the caller for the barn dancing.
Thanks to all those who entered the fancy dress and cake competition. Your efforts were nothing short of amazing! Thanks too to the judges who had to make the difficult decision of who had won each of the categories – the Mayor of Kingston, Councillor Chrissie Hitchcock; Revd Vicky Maunder and Isobel Robinson.
A big thank you to the marvellous team of bunting makers; those who helped to set up and those who made the street look so fantastic with all the bunting and decorations. Thanks too to those who photocopied the flyers and to all those who did endless leaflet drops for us.
And finally the most enormous thanks you can think of to everyone who has donated their time to help prepare for the day, help out on the day, bake cakes or make jellies to sell. We have been blown away by the number of people willing to get involved and help out. We couldn’t have done it without you.
Thanks everyone for coming along too – we had a really lovely time and we hope that it will be a day to remember for everyone.
The street party raised over £4,000 and all the funds will go to the St John’s Church Regeneration Fundraising Appeal.
So, to sum up, thank you!!!
