Sunday Services

2nd, 4th and 5th Sundays

10am Parish Communion with Children’s Church

Everyone is very welcome at this service where we share holy bread and wine.

We use Common Worship Order One in contemporary language and sing a range of traditional and modern hymns.

Children aged 3+ are invited to go for Children’s Church, a time of activities, stories and learning during the service.  The 3 to 5 year olds meet in the children’s room and the 6+ group have their own space in the crypt.  Both groups leave after the first hymn and re-join the congregation for Communion.

There is also colouring available in one area for families to sit in to keep smaller children entertained and busy bags are available too.

1st Sunday of the month

10am Family Communion

This shorter service is for all ages to worship together so children remain with their families rather than going off for activities.   Our older children take part in the service, reading and leading the prayers, there is an all age talk rather than a sermon and we share holy bread and wine.

3rd Sunday of the month

 9am Holy Communion

This is a quiet communion service held in the high altar chapel with a short reflection and no hymns.

10am Sacred Space with Children’s Church.

This service explores and celebrates a particular theme or aspect of Christian faith.  It is prepared by a planning team who use material from a wide range of sources including Iona, Taize and Inclusive Church writers.  The structure of the service is variable; there is usually a contemporary reading or poem as well as a Bible reading, sometimes a time of discussion, often a multi-sensory action or reflection.  Topics include ethical concerns like a Christian response to environmental issues or Christian doctrines like the Trinity.

There are refreshments and homemade cakes after all the Sunday services for the congregation to meet and chat.

Special Services

There are special services for Christmas, Candlemas, Ash Wednesday, Mothering Sunday, Holy Week, Easter, Pentecost, Harvest, All Souls and Remembrance Sunday.
