We welcome children of any age to the services at St John’s and they are all invited to attend children’s church or sit in the family area of the congregation.

Children aged 0 to 6-years-old meet in the children’s room and follow Diddy Disciples which is a worship and storytelling for babies, toddlers and young children.

Under 3s must have a parent/carer with them, but over 3s are encouraged to come unaccompanied once they are settled into the group.

The 6+ group have their own space downstairs in the crypt.  They meet for bible story, discussion and creative activities.

Both groups leave after the first hymn and re-join the congregation for Parish Communion.

There is no children’s church on the first Sunday of the month as our service is an All Age Communion. This shorter service is designed with children and young people in mind, so they stay with their families rather than go to Children’s Church. Despite this, or maybe because of this, many adults say it is their favourite service out of all the services we do! Our older children take part in the service, reading and leading the prayers, there is an all age talk rather than a sermon.

There is colouring available in one area of the congregation for families to sit in and to keep smaller children entertained. There are also busy bags hanging on the hat stand near the main door. If you have a young child, please help yourself to these as you come in.
