St John’s Church is a beautiful Grade II listed building and with its large accessible kitchen, toilets and new heating and lighting system. It is the perfect place for the Kingston community to use.

Community Cafe

The church is open on the first Saturday morning of the month from 10am to 2pm offering everyone a space to sit, to meet with friends and enjoy refreshments. There is an area for children to play with toys and books. Everyone is welcome to pop in during the morning to enjoy hot drinks, biscuits, cakes and bacon sandwiches. You can come to chat and make friends or to spend a quiet moment in the high altar chapel where you can light a candle and leave a prayer request.The proceeds from the sale of cakes will be for our monthly charity.

Little Groovers

Our friendly and welcoming under 5s Toddler and Baby group meets in the church on Tuesdays from 9.30am until noon. Come and have a coffee and a chat whilst your child finds time to create, explore, imagine and have a sing along with other parents and children.  We have a large range of toys and activities and a separate baby area for pre-walkers to keep them safe. There is a small charge of £3.50 per family which helps cover refreshments.

8218 Youth Theatre Group

8218 Youth Theatre is an amateur musical theatre company and charity. They welcome people between 8 and 18 years who have a passion for performing and would like to join a friendly company. They meet at St John’s on a Sunday afternoon.


The Spring Grove Morris Dancers

This group of dancers take their name from our small Victorian suburb. The Spring Grove Morris Dancer’s practice at St John’s from October on a Monday evening at 8pm.


Orpheus Choir

Orpheus Choir is a mixed voice choir of around 50 singers. It operates on a 3-term basis (Spring, Summer, and Winter) and they give three Saturday evening concerts per year (at the end of every term: usually in March/April, July, and December). During term time, the choir rehearse at St John’s on a Wednesday evening from 8pm to 10pm, with a short break for tea/coffee and a chat.
