We would be delighted to talk to you if you would like to have a baptism or a wedding at St John’s.

The Church is also available for funerals.

Baptism

Baptism (sometimes referred to as a Christening) is the formal ceremony to become a Christian, although anyone can be part of a church at any time. Through baptism we welcome people of all ages into the church family.

We baptise children either during our 10.30am Sunday service (except during Lent) or at a special Sunday afternoon baptism service. Adults can be baptised at St John’s, though it is usual for adults to be baptised and confirmed at the same time.

Confirmation

At confirmation, young people and adults make the promises that were made for them at their baptism, before the Bishop. The Bishop lays hands on the candidates, confirms their faith and invites them to receive the bread and wine of communion.

To be confirmed you will need to attend confirmation classes.

Weddings

If you would like to get married at St John’s we would be delighted to talk to you. You can be married here if you live within the parish boundary, regularly go to church here or have certain family connections to St John’s.

Funerals

St John’s is available for funerals and any pastoral support you may need.

Other Services

There are special services for Christmas, Candlemas, Ash Wednesday, Mothering Sunday, Holy Week, Easter, Pentecost, Harvest, All Souls and Remembrance Sunday.
